Pure Body Scrub

DIY body scrubs are simple, luxurious and economical.  No packaged scrubs can compare to the purity of one you make yourself, and they are really easy to put together.  There are hundreds of recipes for body scrubs on the internet but it doesn’t have to be so complicated. All you need are a few simple ingredients. You can brighten your skin with this easy combination:  Exfoliant + Moisture = glowing skin.

For your exfoliant  use  Sea salt (a natural detoxifier), ground almonds (watch out for allergies) or sugar (I would only use organic white or brown). Don’t use salt on  open wounds or scrapes  (or any other scrub on these areas)   Use this when you need a little pampering – apply the scrub near the end of your bath or shower when skin has softened for best results.

Moisture = any100%  pure vegetable oil like olive, coconut, sesame or almond for starters. I would avoid any canola (highly processed), soybean (genetically modified and affects hormones) or corn(genetically modified and allergenic) oils which are often genetically modified and likely to cause allergic reaction and inflame the skin.

Apply the scrub in circular motions to help remove dead skin cells and increase circulation, paying extra attention to problem areas with cellulite.   You can vary the ingredients to make a scrub suited for your needs!  This makes an excellent supplement to any detox or cleansing program.   Make sure to use this with care in the shower  or tub, the oils can make a slippery surface.

Combine:

1/4 cup of Fine Celtic Sea Salt or Organic Sugar (Use only the purest ingredients, NO IODIZED SALT!  Remember your skin will be absorbing some of this)

2 T vegetable oil – I like the sesame or almond oil for lighter coverage, avocado oil for more moisture

2-3 drops of essential oil of your choice – use a blend like Peace & Calming  or lavender before bed and  peppermint to perk you up in the morning or for tired feet. Lemon essential oil is purifying, make sure any oils you use are true, Therapeutic grade so you don’t add synthetic chemicals to your pure scrub.

This amount is for 1-2 applications depending on your size. If you have any left over, store it in a glass jar with a lid.   I like to use small pyrex containers or jelly jars with lids.
